GymMaster is solid gym software with good reviews, and it's one of the few that sells its own door hardware. Gyms that look for GymMaster alternatives usually aren't leaving because it failed them. They're leaving because of the bill. Every site is priced on its own, and the member app with your gym's name on it costs $150 a month plus a $450 setup fee. If that's you, ManageYourGym is the alternative we'd point you to. The app under your own name is on every plan, up to three branches share one $169 plan (every tier: $79, $169 or $349 a month), and we move your data for you.
Below are four more GymMaster alternatives, grouped by the reason you're leaving: PushPress, TeamUp, Arbox and WellnessLiving. Every price was read from the vendor's own pricing page on 12 or 13 October 2026. After that, one Dubai gym is priced on each platform, and there's a checklist for moving your members, memberships and fobs across. If you only want the head-to-head, see ManageYourGym vs GymMaster.
What does GymMaster cost in 2026?
GymMaster charges per site, by how many current members that site has. Current members means anyone on a paid or regular-billing membership, including $0 and future-start ones. Casual visitors, prospects and old members don't count. Here's the ladder, read from its pricing page on 13 October 2026:
| Plan | Current members per site | Software only (USD/mo) | With 24/7 door access |
|---|---|---|---|
| Foundation | Up to 100 | $89 | $129 |
| Advanced | Up to 400 | $129 | $169 |
| Professional | Up to 1,300 | $209 | $249 |
| Enterprise | Unlimited | Quote only | Quote only |
Prices are per site, before tax. Paying yearly takes 10% off. The branded member app is $150 a month plus $450 setup. Door hardware is bought outright: $300 per door reader, $130 for a reception reader, $550 for a gatekeeper, and $400 a camera plus $40 a month for tailgating detection. Fobs start at $1.30. SMS is charged per message at a regional rate. No lock-in contract, and a 60-day money-back guarantee.
A lot of this is good. The prices are public, there's no contract, and 60 days to get your money back is longer than most. For a single gym of 150 to 400 members that doesn't want its own app, $129 is hard to beat.
The costs come from two places. Open a second site and the plan price doubles, because each site pays its own plan. And the app under your own name is $150 a month on top, which is more than the Advanced plan itself. A 350-member gym that wants both pays $279 a month, plus $450 before it starts.
What GymMaster customers say
GymMaster reviews well. Capterra has it at about 4.7 out of 5 from around 165 reviews, which is a strong score. The complaints that do come up are fairly specific:
- Support across time zones. GymMaster is based in New Zealand. In a reply to one review, it said standard support runs 9am to 2am US Eastern, with a 24-hour emergency line.
- Occasional bugs that need more than one call to sort out.
- Setup and moving data across from the old system take real effort.
- Door hardware. One reviewer needed an electrician for the door-strike install, and another said the door scanners fail too often.
None of that is a reason to leave on its own. The rest of this post is for gym owners whose bill grew with a second site or the app, or who want things GymMaster doesn't focus on, like PT packages and trainer pay.
If the app under your own name is the problem
The app is where the prices swing most, so look at it first. Also look at what each price counts, because that decides what happens to your bill as you grow.
| Platform | Published price (USD/mo, monthly) | What it counts | Own-name member app |
|---|---|---|---|
| ManageYourGym | Starter $79, Professional $169, Enterprise $349 | Members (150 / 500 / unlimited), plus branches and trainers | Included on every plan |
| GymMaster | Foundation $89, Advanced $129, Professional $209 | Current members per site (100 / 400 / 1,300) | $150/mo plus $450 setup |
| PushPress | Free $0, Pro $159, Max $229 | Features; unlimited members and staff | $97/mo add-on |
| TeamUp | $119 to $379 | Clients who booked or bought last month | $99/mo add-on |
| Arbox | Free, Basic $49, Standard $129, Professional $299 | Sessions per week (5 / 20 / unlimited) | Professional only |
| WellnessLiving | Starter $69, Business $199, BusinessPro $349 | Staff, locations and features | Included on BusinessPro |
Read from each vendor's pricing page on 13 Oct 2026 (TeamUp's full ladder on 12 Oct), monthly billing. Annual rates where shown: GymMaster 10% off; Arbox $39/$99/$239; WellnessLiving $62/$179/$314. WellnessLiving's 80%-off offer ends 16 October, so we've used its normal prices. PushPress's free plan charges 4.99% + $0.30 per card payment, against 2.89% + $0.30 on Pro. Card processing is extra on every platform.
What one gym pays on each
Take a gym in Dubai with one site, 350 members, five trainers and about 30 classes a week. Here's its monthly bill on each platform, first with a member app under its own name, then without one.
| Platform | With an own-name app | Without one | How we got there |
|---|---|---|---|
| ManageYourGym | $169 (about AED 621) | $169 | Professional covers 500 members and 30 trainers; the app is always included |
| PushPress | $256 | $159 | Pro at $159 (the free plan's card rate is 4.99% against 2.89%), plus $97 for the app |
| GymMaster | $279, plus $450 setup | $129 | Advanced covers up to 400 members, plus $150 a month for the app |
| Arbox | $299 | $129 | 30 classes a week needs Standard; the app needs Professional |
| TeamUp | $348 | $249 | Members renewing monthly all count as active, so 301–400 is $249, plus $99 for the app |
| WellnessLiving | $349 | $199 | Five trainers rule out Starter; the app is included on BusinessPro |
350 members is above our Starter limit of 150, so Professional is the fair comparison. AED at the fixed rate of 3.6725 to the dollar. Door access isn't included in any row.
With its own app, this gym pays $110 a month less on ManageYourGym than on GymMaster, and skips the $450 setup. Over the first year that's $2,028 against $3,798. Without an app, GymMaster's $129 is the cheapest paid plan in the table, level with Arbox Standard, and $40 under our Professional plan. We'd rather you saw that here.
If you have, or plan, a second branch
This is where per-site pricing hurts. Say the same owner runs two gyms with 200 members each. On GymMaster each site needs Advanced, so that's $258 a month, or $408 if one branded app covers both sites (ask GymMaster; it may be charged per site). Add 24/7 door access and it's another $40 for each site, before any readers.
On ManageYourGym, Professional covers up to three branches and 500 members in total for $169 a month, app included. You get one dashboard, revenue and members for each branch, and staff who only see the branch they work at. Here's how multi-branch works. Past 500 members or three branches, Enterprise is $349 for unlimited of both.
If you run personal training
GymMaster handles appointment and trainer booking. Selling PT is more than booking, though. You sell a package of sessions, each session draws it down, and the trainer gets paid for what they delivered.
In ManageYourGym that's all built in. You sell PT packages, clients book into the trainer's real availability from the app and the trainer confirms, with one calendar across the team. Every session comes off the balance. Trainers work from their own app with the day's sessions and classes, and you can pay them a salary, per-session or per-class rates, a share of package sales, or any mix.
If members let themselves in at 5am
Door access is GymMaster's strongest ground. It sells the readers, the gatekeeper and tailgating cameras itself, and 24/7 access is $40 a month per site on top of the plan. If your gym runs unstaffed hours, put this question first, whichever software you pick.
ManageYourGym checks members in with a QR code, on their phone or at a tablet by the entrance, so there's nothing to buy or wire up. An expired member is stopped at check-in, or let in on a grace period you set, and you can see how busy the floor is right now. We don't control doors or turnstiles. Among the others, Arbox's pricing page mentions access control for 24/7 gyms, WellnessLiving and PushPress list door-access integrations, and TeamUp works with Kisi. None of the four publishes a price for it, so ask before you sign.
What each alternative is built around
- ManageYourGym: gyms, studios, CrossFit boxes and PT businesses on one plan. QR check-in with no hardware, PT packages and trainer pay, classes with waitlists, the WOD with scores, live occupancy, and a member app under your own name on every tier. From $79 a month.
- PushPress: CrossFit and functional gyms. Unlimited members on every plan, a free plan if you accept a higher card rate, and the branded app at $97 a month on top.
- TeamUp: studios and gyms that like a bill that drops in quiet months. It counts clients who booked or bought last month, and one account covers many locations. Our TeamUp alternatives post goes through its full ladder.
- Arbox: gyms and studios priced by how many sessions you run each week, with the branded app on its $299 plan. See Arbox alternatives.
- WellnessLiving: studios that want retail, video and marketing in one place, priced by staff and features. See WellnessLiving alternatives.
ManageYourGym: if one price and your own app are what you want
We built ManageYourGym for gyms that sell memberships, PT and classes in one place. Members check in by QR, renewal reminders go out on WhatsApp before a plan ends, and late dues get chased for you. Freezes move the end date by the days frozen. See how it's set up for gyms.
Members book and pay in an app published under your gym's name and icon, on the App Store and Google Play. It's on every plan with no setup fee (here's how the branded app works). Cards go through Stripe or Nomod and settle to your own account. In the UAE, VAT-registered gyms get tax invoices in AED with their TRN. Every tier is on the pricing page: $79 for 150 members at one branch, $169 for 500 across three, $349 for unlimited.
There are things GymMaster does that we don't. We don't sell or connect door hardware, we don't run a point-of-sale register at the desk, and we don't offer a 60-day money-back window. If your gym depends on unstaffed 24/7 entry, weigh that honestly. For a staffed gym that came to GymMaster for memberships, billing and an app, it usually isn't the deciding factor.
We move everything for you: members, plans, balances and history. You can keep GymMaster running alongside us until you're sure.
Leaving GymMaster: a switching checklist
- GymMaster has no lock-in contract, so you can leave whenever you're ready. If you joined in the last 60 days, ask about the money-back guarantee.
- Export your member list, memberships, billing history and PT bookings while the account is fully live. Save copies somewhere outside GymMaster.
- Write down what the exports miss: frozen memberships and their return dates, future-start members, credit on account and any discounts you've agreed.
- Decide what happens to the door before switch day. If you're moving to QR check-in, tell members when fobs stop working and send them the new app first.
- If members pay by saved card or direct debit, those usually can't move to a new system. Tell members before switch day that they'll pay their next renewal in the new app.
- Ask GymMaster what happens to your branded app after you cancel. Either way, send members the link to the new app a week before switch day, and again on the day.
- Cancel the branded app, door-access modules and SMS on the same day as the main plan.
- Cancel in writing, keep the confirmation, and check your card statement for the next two months.

Does GymMaster include a branded app?
