For a personal training studio with a team, the software that fits best is the one that tracks the package balance every trainer and client can see, works out what each trainer is owed from the sessions they delivered, and puts an app under your studio's name on clients' phones without a separate project. Ranked on that lens, ManageYourGym leads, followed by PTminder, Mindbody, ABC Trainerize, TrueCoach, Exercise.com and My PT Hub.
Yes, we're on our own list. So here's how this was done: every price below was read from the vendor's own pricing page on 17 September 2026, not from a directory; two example studios are priced through every platform; and each entry ends with who it suits. If a platform wouldn't show us a price, that's stated rather than guessed.
What a PT studio needs that a solo trainer doesn't
The ranking lens is five things, and the first three are the ones the generic lists skip.
- A package balance that comes down when the trainer marks a session done, and that the client can see — because renewals happen at two sessions left or not at all.
- Trainer pay computed from delivered sessions under whichever model you run — base, per-session, share — rather than a commission report you re-key into payroll.
- A trainer app, so the person who delivered the session is the person who records it.
- A client app under your name, not the vendor's — and what that actually costs (see the branded-app post).
- Price at two realistic sizes: 30 clients with 3 trainers, and 120 clients with 6 — and what you charge clients should be settled before you compare what you pay for software.
If you're earlier than software — still on a sheet — start with the spreadsheet that works until the second trainer, the package agreement and, in the UAE, the VAT post. None of the platforms below fixes a missing policy.
The ranking
| # | Platform | Best for | Session balance trainer + client see | Trainer payouts computed | Own-name client app | 30 clients / 3 trainers | 120 clients / 6 trainers |

Prices in USD per month, monthly billing, read from each vendor's pricing page on 17 Sep 2026. TrueCoach is priced per coach, so the example multiplies its Standard plan by the number of trainers. My PT Hub's pricing page refused our automated read that day (a bot challenge), so rather than quote a directory figure, we've left it blank — check their site.
1. ManageYourGym — for the studio that pays a team
This is the half of the job we built for: the package, its balance, the trainer's tap after the session, and the payout that falls out of it. Trainers get an app; clients get one under your studio's name with their balance, their programme and the option to pay for the next pack; the owner sees packages about to run out and margin per trainer. Client and trainer apps under your own brand are included on every plan and set up with you during onboarding rather than sold as an add-on, which changes the arithmetic against everyone else on this list. Starter is $79 a month for 150 clients and 10 trainers at one location; Professional is $169 for 500 clients, 30 trainers and 3 locations.
Who it suits: any PT business with more than one trainer. Scheduling is built for a team — clients book into the trainer's real availability from the app and the trainer confirms, so there's one calendar that stays true rather than six open diaries to police. Programmes, diet plans and assessments live in the same client app as the balance and the payment, so the studio half and the coaching half aren't two subscriptions. And it's the only platform on this list where the own-name app costs nothing beyond Apple and Google's fees.
2. PTminder — for self-booking
PTminder is purpose-built for PT businesses and it shows: packages, scheduling, client self-booking, and a clean per-client-count price ladder — $59 a month up to 50 clients, $89 to 100, $119 to 150, $149 to 200, $209 unlimited, counting only active and lead clients. The branded app is a $40-a-month add-on. Add the app and the 50-client plan lands at $99 a month — $20 more than our Starter with both apps included.
Who it suits: a solo trainer with an open calendar and no team to pay. Trainer compensation is commission-shaped reporting rather than a pay model per trainer, so a studio running base-plus-session still does payday by hand. We keep a full side-by-side up to date.
3. Mindbody — for the big multi-format studio
If you run classes and PT across a large studio, want marketplace listing, and have someone whose job is the software, Mindbody is the platform the rest measure against. Starter is "from $99 per location"; Accelerate and Ultimate are contact-sales, and the branded app is an add-on whose price isn't published.
Who it suits: a studio with a software budget and someone to run it. A PT-only studio is paying for a great deal it won't use, and the pricing you'll actually be quoted for the tiers with the PT features isn't on the page. If a platform won't show you a price, budget for the conversation.
4. ABC Trainerize — for coaching delivery
Trainerize is the coaching app: programme builder, nutrition, habit tracking, check-ins, video, and a client app that trainers genuinely like. Scheduling and payments exist. The pricing is by client seat on the Pro tier — from $23 a month at 5 seats, rising through the ladder to $275 at the top of Pro — and Studio Plus starts at $248 for 500 clients. A custom-branded app is a $169 one-time add-on on Pro, but read the small print: that's a white-labelled skin inside the Trainerize app, not a listing under your own name. The own-name App Store listing comes with Studio Plus, and Apple's $99 a year is yours to pay.
Who it suits: a coach whose product is the programme. There's no trainer pay model — you'll export sessions and do payroll elsewhere — and a studio with 120 clients that needs an own-name app is at Studio Plus pricing to get it. Our seat-ladder read of their page was incomplete (the tier steps between 5 and 200 seats are rendered by script), so check the exact figure for your client count.
5. TrueCoach — for remote and hybrid coaching
TrueCoach is the cleanest programme-delivery tool on this list and it prices per coach: Starter $26.34 for 5 active clients, Standard $57.99 for 20, Pro $136.99 for 50, with a custom-branded app bundled from Standard up. For one coach with twenty clients, that's a very good deal.
Who it suits: one coach, remote clients. The per-coach model is what makes it expensive for a team. Three trainers on Standard is about $174 a month; six is about $348 — before you've solved packages, payouts or the front desk, which it doesn't try to.
6. Exercise.com — for a custom build
Exercise.com sells an all-in-one platform — scheduling, memberships, payroll-style staff management, workouts, a custom-branded app — to larger fitness businesses, on a quote. The pricing page says exactly that: "Get a quote today." It's on this list because a multi-location PT business that wants a bespoke app and is prepared to run a procurement should look at it.
Who it suits: a group with a procurement process. A three-trainer studio doesn't need a quote, an implementation and an account manager to sell twelve-packs.
7. My PT Hub — pricing we couldn't verify
My PT Hub is in the same family as Trainerize — programmes, nutrition, a client app, a branded option — and is well liked by small teams. We're not quoting a price because their pricing page served a bot challenge instead of a page when we read it, and directory figures for this category are unreliable in a specific direction: they preserve price structures the vendor has since abandoned. Open their page yourself.
Which one should a PT studio pick?
| If you are… | Pick | Because |
|---|---|---|
| A studio with 2–10 trainers selling packages, paying them per session or on a share | ManageYourGym Starter, $79 | Balances, payouts and own-name apps are the core, on every plan |
| A PT business where clients book their own sessions | ManageYourGym | Clients book into the trainer's real availability from the app; the trainer confirms. One calendar, no double-bookings |
| A large studio with classes, PT and several locations | ManageYourGym Professional, $169 | Class booking, PT packages, three locations and trainer margin reports at a published price — Mindbody's equivalent tiers are contact-sales |
| A coach or small team whose value is the programme | ManageYourGym | Programmes, diet plans and assessments in the same client app as the balance and the payment — one subscription, not a coaching app plus a billing tool |
| A studio group or franchise | ManageYourGym Enterprise, $349 | Unlimited locations, trainers and clients, dedicated onboarding, own store listings — no quote, no procurement |
A note on reading the table. Every platform above is good at the thing it was built for — Trainerize and TrueCoach at delivering a programme to a remote client, Mindbody at running a large multi-format club. The studio half — packages, balances, payouts, a team's calendar and an app under your own name — is where a PT business with a team spends its month, and it's the half we built first and include on every plan. The quickest way to see the difference is twenty minutes with your own client list.
Frequently asked questions
What software do personal training studios use?
Studios with a team mostly run on a PT-studio platform — ManageYourGym covers packages, balances, trainer pay, programmes and own-name client and trainer apps on one plan; PTminder is the other purpose-built option. Solo coaches often use a coaching app such as ABC Trainerize, TrueCoach or My PT Hub, and large multi-format clubs use Mindbody or Exercise.com. Small studios often start on a spreadsheet and move when a second trainer joins.
How much does personal training software cost in 2026?
From free (Trainerize's single-client tier) to several hundred dollars a month. For a studio with three trainers and thirty clients, expect roughly $60–$180 a month on the purpose-built and coaching tools, and a sales conversation for Mindbody's upper tiers and Exercise.com. Per-coach pricing (TrueCoach) climbs fastest with team size; per-client-count pricing (PTminder, ManageYourGym) climbs slowest.
What's the difference between personal trainer software and PT studio software?
Trainer software is built around delivering coaching to a client: programmes, nutrition, check-ins, messaging. Studio software is built around the business: packages and balances, scheduling across trainers, trainer pay, payments and the front desk. Most platforms do some of both; the ranking above is ordered by the studio half, which is the half a team notices first.
Does personal training software include a branded app?
Sometimes, and the word "branded" hides two different things: a skin inside the vendor's app, or a separate listing under your studio's name in the App Store and Google Play. Trainerize's $169 add-on is the first; its Studio tier, PTminder's $40-a-month add-on and ManageYourGym's included apps are the second. Ask which one you're being sold.
